Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 October 2026

Style Finder (“we”, “us”) helps you find clothing, shoes and accessories from your photos. This policy explains what data we use when you use our app and this website, why we use it, and the choices you have.

Your account

You need an account to use Style Finder. You can sign in with Apple, with Google, or with an email address and password. We store your email address, your name if your sign-in provider shares it, the link to your profile picture if Google or Apple shares one, and the sign-in details our authentication provider needs. If you use a password, it is stored only in a securely hashed form.

If you sign in with Apple, Apple shares an email address with us, which can be a private relay address that forwards to you, and the first time you sign in, your name if you choose to share it. When you delete your account in the iPhone app, the app asks you to confirm with Apple and then asks Apple to end Style Finder’s access to your Apple Account. You can also stop using Sign in with Apple for Style Finder in your Apple Account settings at any time.

Photos and searches

Style Finder only sends a photo to our servers when you take or choose one to search. Our server turns the photo upright, reduces it to at most 1,600 pixels on its longest side and saves it as a new JPEG file, which removes details embedded in the original, such as where it was taken. The photo is then stored privately with your account.

To find the pieces in a photo, we send the whole photo to Google’s Gemini AI service. When you choose a piece to search for, we send a crop of that piece to Gemini, which uses Google Search to find possible matches in shops. We reach Gemini through Replit, the platform that hosts our servers. Before the app sends any photo, it asks for your permission and names Google Gemini. Until you allow it, you can’t scan. Your choice is saved on your phone for your account and is removed when you delete your account.

For each search (a “find” in the app) we store what was found: a description of the piece, its category, colour and style, the frame around it, a crop of the piece, the possible matches with their shop links and prices, and the country and currency of your phone’s region, which we use to look for shops in your country. To check a match, our servers may open the shop’s product page and picture; the shop sees a request from our servers, not from you.

Photos you don’t search from, including photos in which nothing was found, are deleted about a day after you take or choose them. A find keeps its photo and crop until you remove it or delete your account. When you remove a find, its photos are deleted straight away. The rest of its record, such as the description and matches, stays with your account so the free plan’s limits still count it, and is deleted when you delete your account.

We don’t use your photos to train AI models. Our admin tools don’t show your photos, except the crop of a piece from a find whose matches you have reported, so we can review the report. Please don’t photograph people without their permission, or anything private.

Saved pieces and reports

When you save a match, we store its brand, name, category, colour, picture link, price and shop link with your account. When you report a match, we store the reason and any note you add, and our team reviews it to improve matches and remove unsuitable results. Saved pieces and reports are deleted when you delete your account.

Subscriptions and notifications

Style Finder Pro is bought through Apple’s App Store on iPhone, or Google Play on Android. Apple or Google processes your payment under its own privacy policy, and we never receive your payment card details. RevenueCat, our subscription provider, receives the details of your purchases from Apple or Google, such as the plan, price, store, and purchase, trial, renewal and expiry dates, linked to your Style Finder account, so the app can check whether you have Pro. We store whether your account has Pro and when it ends, and delete this when you delete your account.

When you start a free trial, we also store your device’s identifier for the app (Apple’s identifier for vendor on iPhone, or the Android ID), the device type (iOS or Android) and the date, so a free trial can’t be started again on that device. This record is linked to your account; deleting your account removes the link but keeps the record. Apple, Google and RevenueCat keep their own records of your purchases, which deleting your Style Finder account doesn’t remove.

We don’t send notifications from our servers. If you start a free trial and allow notifications, the app schedules a reminder on your phone for the day before the trial ends.

Usage and technical data

For each scan and search, we record its type, whether it worked, how long it took and how many pieces it found, so we can keep Style Finder fast and reliable. These records are linked to your account, deleted after 120 days, and unlinked from your account if you delete it sooner. We also keep short-term statistics about requests to our servers, such as response times, which don’t identify you.

Our servers use your IP address briefly to limit abuse, and our request logs don’t include it. Our hosting provider may record technical details, such as IP addresses, to deliver the service and keep it secure. The app also keeps your settings and recent results on your phone; they are removed when you delete your account on that phone or delete the app.

Service providers and sharing

We use Supabase for sign-in, our database and photo storage; Google’s Gemini AI service, which we reach through Replit, the platform that hosts our servers, to find pieces in photos and search for matches; RevenueCat for subscriptions; and Apple and Google for sign-in and purchases. When you open a shop link, you go to the shop’s website, which handles your visit under its own privacy policy.

We don’t sell your personal data or use it for advertising, and we don’t use your photos to train AI models. Data may be processed by service providers where they operate, including outside your country.

We use your data to provide the service you ask for: to run your account, search your photos and keep your finds and saved pieces. We also use it to keep Style Finder secure and reliable, which is in our legitimate interests, and to meet legal obligations, such as keeping purchase records. The app asks for your permission before it sends any photo to Google Gemini.

Your choices and rights

You can remove any find or saved piece in the app, and delete your account at any time in the app or by following our Delete Account page. You can also ask us by email for a copy of your data, or to correct or delete it. Style Finder isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you think a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Security and changes

We use reasonable safeguards, such as encryption in transit and private storage that the app reaches through short-lived links, but no service can guarantee absolute security. We may update this policy; the date above shows the latest revision.
